Inquiry Woes
It seemed that every time Mueller was making ground he hit a wall. His latest effort was going nowhere and fast.
If Mueller was dependent on help from the Russian Government to solve anything he was in trouble.
It was very unlikely that the Russians would cooperate to indict their own.
All efforts to acquire help from the Russian Government were futile.
“To the Government’s knowledge, no further steps have been taken within Russia to effectuate service,” prosecutors said.
The Russian company hired a U.S. lawyer to represent them. He responded to the attempt by Mueller to have the hearing rescheduled.
“I find it disturbing that in your first communication you are already behaving in a manner that is inconsistent with the practices of the Department of Justice,” Eric Dubelier said.
Dubelier, an US attorney from the law firm Reed Smith reached out to prosecutor Jeannie Rhee by email.
Another issue for Mueller was Rudy Giuliani. It was believed that he was there to make life difficult for the probe.
“Rudy Giuliani is capable of being so reckless as we have seen throughout the campaign and as we are seeing now, that it is very difficult to parse what he is doing and saying, except that he is trying to throw bombs into the Mueller investigation,” Carl Bernstein said.
Bernstein had been around for a long time as journalist and made the comments after Giuliani appeared on various interviews on Fox.
