District-Level Polling and Discussions
POLITICO reported that Pelosi spoke to at least one House Democrat about district-level polling and appeared to believe Biden should exit the race. She offered to speak to other members who reached out to her but stated she would not initiate those conversations.
“You make a decision to win, and you make every decision in favor of winning,” Pelosi said, adding that “the most important decision” in that electoral calculus “is the candidate.”
Pelosi’s Own Decision and Support for Biden
Pelosi mentioned that her decision to leave party leadership had made it “easier” to discuss the topic with Biden. Now on a press tour for her new book, Pelosi has praised the president repeatedly. “We just wanted him to make the decision in how he best preserves that legacy,” Pelosi said. “And also — win.”
Pelosi’s Commitment to a Successful Campaign
Pelosi’s efforts highlight her commitment to ensuring a successful campaign for the Democratic Party. Her focus remains on selecting the right candidate and strategy to secure victory in the upcoming elections.
