White Supremacists Cause Concern After Returning To Charlottesville

Charlottesville has once again made the headlines. This time the presence of the white supremacists was more peaceful.

A group of about fifty persons showed up at the site of a confederate statue. Concerns arose because the group has been deemed racist sect.

Charlottesville has been a place of much tension after rallies about the removal of  Confederate statues. Some of these rallies have gotten violent.

Someone lost their life after a neo Nazi drove his car through the crowd. Since that time concerns have increased and so have tensions.

The return of the small group led by Richard Spencer has sparked a response.

Richard Spencer

Richard Spencer is known as a white supremacists. He is the President of National Policy Institute. Spencer and the group he led visited the statue of Gen. Robert Lee.

The statue is located in Emancipation Park. The statue is due to be taken down at some point. Those gathered there carried lighted torches.

The group carried a loud speaker. Someone carrying the speaker shouted “we are here to represent white America’s interests.”

Spencer said that we will keep coming back. He promised that their protest will continue. The group has more planned rallies in other States.

The group chanted “you will not replace us!” The protest created a stir in the community. The Mayor tweeted about the protest.

Rebuttal

The Mayor for the area tweeted “another despicable visit by neo-Nazi cowards.” He continued “you’re not welcome here! Go home! Meantime we’re looking at all our legal options. Stay tuned.”

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe also chimed in to the protest. He said “we continue to oppose these racists and their message of hate.”

Ralph Northam tweeted “tell him we’re sick of this here in Virginia.” Northam is the State’s Lieutenant Governor and Democratic candidate.

He challenged Ed Gillespie to make Spencer stop his foolery. Gillespie is a Trump-endorsed opponent running against Northam.

Those in position of authority were certainly disgusted with the event. The Government Officials’ main concern was racism.

That is the reason they are so against the rallies. The promise to continue protesting doesn’t help the situation.

Northam said “Donald Trump’s equivocation enabled this to happen again.  And Ed Gillespie failed to call on the leader of his party to denounce neo-Nazis and white supremacists.”

He also said “there can be no ambiguity from any elected official. White supremacists are not welcome, and they will not win.”

It certainly seems that white supremacists will have a hard time in Charlottesville. The Officials there don’t have any intention to allow any hateful attitudes to persist in the City.

It doesn’t look like there will be any letting up soon. Spencer has promised to keep going and Officials have no sign of giving in.
