White House Staff Believe Rex Tillerson Could Be On His Way Out As Secretary of State

Rex Tillerson’s time in the White House had been a roller coaster one. He had faced rough times from the President at times. He was also guilty of making mistakes that proved costly to him.

For a while now Tillerson faced constant rumors of getting fired. These reports were always denied by the White House.

Trump’s relationship with Tillerson worsened after talk arose that he called him a moron. The biggest sign of trouble was noticed when Tillerson said negotiations with North Korea would begin.

However Trump tweeted that this won’t happen, telling Tillerson not to bother with that. This seemed a sign of lack of communication among them.

“I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man,” Trump said.

Tillerson Denial

Tillerson doesn’t expect to leave his job anytime soon. He continued unfazed despite speculation, even from his own staff. He had already cited plans to visit allies in 2018.

The relationship between these two men still continued even though it looked shaky. Tillerson had fared better than many of his counterparts; many persons had come and gone. However Tillerson was still on the job.

“This is all about modernizing the department and making it easier to complete your mission,” told employees. He focused on visiting other Nations to continue dialogue.

White House Staff

Trump’s attitude towards Tillerson was disliked by one staffer. The person said “It makes me angry.”

Spokeswoman Heather Nauert said “diplomacy is our top priority. We remain open to dialogue, and we’ve long said this. We remain open to dialogue when North Korea is willing to conduct a credible dialogue on the peaceful denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”

Nauert was commenting on the North Korea situation and the unlikely hood of any talks.

She said “we are not seeing any evidence that they are ready to sit down and have those kinds of conversations right now.”

This was a big issue and one of the things that Tillerson and Trump were at odds on.

Tillersn responded to the rumors about losing his job. “People need to get better sources,” Tillerson said.

Tillerson went off script by offering an opportunity for talks without any conditions, it created an unhealthy atmosphere.

“The President’s views on North Korea have not changed. North Korea is acting in an unsafe way not only toward Japan, China, and South Korea, but the entire world,” Sanders said in the statement. “North Korea’s actions are not good for anyone and certainly not good for North Korea.”

This again placed Tillerson in a funny position with his boss. It seemed that he would leave his office anytime soon, but time will tell.
