Following President Joe Biden’s decision to end his bid for reelection amid intense pressure from scores of his own party leaders, the focus is now on Chicago, where the Democratic National Convention (DNC) is set to commence next month.
Biden Steps Down
In a letter addressed to Americans on Sunday, Biden, 81, stated, “I believe it is in the best interest of my party and my country for me to stand down and to focus solely on my duties as President for the rest of my term.” This decision came after Biden faced significant pressure following his poor performance in the June 27 debate against former President Donald Trump.
The Republican National Convention recently concluded in Milwaukee, where Trump formally accepted the party’s nomination and announced Ohio Sen. JD Vance as his running mate.
