The pressure was on and those in the hot seat were surely feeling it. Many reports circulated about various ongoing situations all related to the Russian probe.
A key interest for Robert Mueller was any information he could acquire from Rick Gates. Gates was a partner of Paul Manafort.
It was reported that Gates was still around Trump’s campaign even after Manafort was fired. Manafort also seemed a harder person to garner any information from and he was currently facing multiple charges in court.
There was another report which talked about the FBI questioning the behavior of the RNC. It was made known by Carter Page during a recent interview.
Page a former Adviser to Trump said he was questioned about if he reached out to one of Russia’s Ambassadors.
A third report talked about the FBI questioning Ted Malloch. Malloch was recently questioned about his involvement in Trump’s campaign.
FBI Scope
The FBI was called out for not doing its job. The latest reports showed an increase in detective work regarding anyone who could be tied to Russian interference.
Malloch who was questioned said “I was unfazed and very dubious about why they thought I knew anything.”
“I did … find it objectionable to treat me the way they had, as I was entering my home country, where I am a citizen,” Malloch said. “They did not need to use such tactics or intimidation. I was a US patriot and would do anything and everything to assist the government and I had no information that I believed was relevant.”
Carter Page also talked about his encounter. He shared his experience on MSNBC with Chris Hayes.
“I told them, you know, a lot of everything I’ve essentially been doing for quite a long time, including, obviously, you know, everything in Cleveland,” he said.
Mueller Eyes Gates
Sources indicated that Mueller had his eyes set on Gates, who he believed had crucial information that was helpful.
“Was he in the strategy meetings? No. But he was an implementer,” one person said of Gates. “He would be the kind of person who would probably know that.”
Gates agreement to co-operate with Mueller hadn’t produced what Mueller need but that could soon change.
If Gates could provide information that would be helpful the inquiry could become more problematic for some.
Gates had told with friends and family via email when he pleaded guilty.
“The reality of how long this legal process will likely take, the cost, and the circus-like atmosphere of an anticipated trial are too much,” he said.
