Scale of the Overnight Offensive
In total, Ukrainian officials confirmed that the massive strike included 574 drones and 40 ballistic and cruise missiles, hitting numerous targets across the country. The White House did not immediately provide a reaction to the attack on the U.S.-owned business. However, on Tuesday, Trump commented on the broader situation, saying, “It’s possible that [Putin] doesn’t want to make a deal. We’re going to find out about President Putin in the next couple of weeks.”
NATO leaders have repeatedly questioned Russian President Vladimir Putin’s willingness to engage in meaningful negotiations, a sentiment that remained unresolved even after Trump’s recent in-person meeting with the Russian leader in Alaska.
International Response
France, which has been one of Ukraine’s strongest backers, emphasized that Russia’s actions contradict its claims of readiness to negotiate. A spokesperson for the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs said the strikes show Moscow has no genuine intention to pursue peace.
“These attacks, the most massive in a month, illustrate Russia’s lack of any genuine intention to engage seriously in peace talks,” the spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “France reiterates its support for President Trump’s initiative in favor of a just and lasting peace and will continue to work with determination alongside Ukraine and its partners.”
The overnight assault by Russia marked a significant escalation, hitting both Ukrainian infrastructure and a U.S.-owned civilian business near NATO territory. While international leaders continue to debate the prospects of peace negotiations, the scale of this attack and the targeting of civilian enterprises highlight ongoing concerns over Russia’s approach to the war and its willingness to engage in genuine dialogue.
