Russian Inquiry Showing Varying Sides Of Those Under Suspicion

It seemed varying tactics are being used by those facing legal matters in relation to the Russian probe. Donald Trump Jr. had been tweeting of late about his position on the issue.

He had made it clear that he would be defiant and challenged those responsible for the inquiry. He recently posted private messages on twitter between himself and WikiLeaks.

Then there was Michael Flynn who had started to distance himself from President Trump. His legal team told Trump’s lawyers that they could no longer discuss the case with them.

Could the two issues be related? They may or may not be but there was some suspicion about the timing.

Donald Trump Jr.

The recent behavior from Trump Jr. was considered defiant by some. He had taken to twitter to vent about Hillary Clinton and about his contact with WikiLeaks.

Trump Jr. even wrote a message on instagram. He wrote “more nothing burgers from the media and others desperately trying to create a false narrative. Keep coming at me guys!!!”

Charlie Kirk, a friend of Trump Jr. said “he’s very smart to be in the spotlight.”

Kirk asked “would they stop the investigation if he stopped tweeting? He’s in a situation where either you defend yourself, reassure the base, reassure the supporters, or stay silent. And if you’re totally silent, it only increases suspicion.”

Flynn’s Move

It was reported that Trump’s troubles started when he fired Flynn. Special Counsel Robert Mueller was hired after he fired James Comey from investigating Flynn.

One question that had surfaced was if Flynn had been paid by the Turkish Government unknown to anyone.

White House lawyer Ty Cobb spoke about Trump’s position with regards to Flynn.

Ty Cobb had said he likes General Flynn personally, but understands that they have their own path with the special counsel.”

“I think he would be sad for them, as a friend and a former colleague, if the process results in punishment or indictments. But to the extent that that happens, that’s beyond his control,” Cobb said.

Whether Flynn’s moving away from Trump had a troubling effect or not would eventually be known.

A careful study of Mueller’s approach towards the inquiry showed he was being very meticulous.

He hadn’t been running ahead of himself, but he had been very careful. This meant that a complete investigation could be expected. At least that was the hope of many, an unbiased investigation.
