The smoke was beginning to settle from the 2017 Alabama election. Yet Roy Moore was still on fire as he condemned the immorality of some.
Moore was of the belief that there needed to be change in America. He cited sodomy, abortion and removal of prayer as some of the ills plaguing the Country. Moore also talked about lack of safety along the border, drugs and debt.
Trump also took the loss bitterly; he blamed others for the loss. He said he could have won the election.
It was said Mitch McConnell’s attitude towards Moore might have helped in his defeat. Steve Bannon’s support for Moore also came into question.
Moore’s Crusade
“We have stopped prayer in our schools,” Moore said in his statement. “We have killed over 60 million of our unborn children. We have redefined marriage and destroyed the basis of family, which is the building block of our country. Our borders are not secure. Our economy is faltering under an enormous national debt. We have a huge drug problem.”
“We have even begun to recognize the right of a man to claim to be a woman, and vice versa. We have allowed Judges and justices to rule over our Constitution, and we have become slaves to their tyranny. Immorality sweeps over our land,” he continued.
Moore refused to concede defeat. “In this race,” he said. “We have not received the final count to include Military and provisional ballots,” he said. “This has been a very close race, and we are awaiting certification by the Secretary of State.”
Trump’s Bitter Pill
The loss was seemingly a hard pill for Trump to swallow. He really wanted to win Alabama; the loss could possibly delay his agenda.
He said “wish we would have gotten the seat. A lot of Republicans feel differently. They’re very happy with the way it turned out.” Trump gave this statement during a briefing.
Andy Surabian worked for Bannon and said his support of Moore was all about McConnell. He argued that Bannon wasn’t keen about Moore. Bannon’s support of Moore was to show up McConnell.
“Team Mitch successfully delivered this race to a liberal Democrat and so they won the battle, but in the end, we will win the war,” Surabian said.
Tony Fabrizio blamed Trump’s advisers. Fabrizio wrote on Twitter “this disaster could have been avoided.”
He later tweeted “there does need to be a recognition of the lousy political advice @POTUS has been getting and it needs to change. The future of @POTUS agenda depends on it!”
