GOP Tax Bill Causes Outburst And Concerns For Those Who Disapprove

The GOP Tax bill continued to be a headache for some. Recently the bill caused a shouting match to take place in Congress.

Trump and most Republicans have been pushing for this bill. The House gave him what he wanted. Then Senate also approved the bill paving the way for some changes.

This was a win for Trump who wanted to see one of his pet projects meet fruition.

Some claimed the bill was more suited for the rich, citing the Trump family. One analyst said the plan could save Trump around $1 billion.

Shouting Match

Democrat Sherrod Brown was furious about the tax overhaul. He had an argument with Republican Orrin Hatch.

Brown said “when the Republicans are in power, the first thing they want to do is give tax cuts to the rich. That’s just what’s — it’s in their DNA.”

Hatch replied to Brown’s comment. He said “I’ve been here working my whole stinking career for people who don’t have a chance. And I really resent anybody saying that I’m just doing this for the rich. Give me a break.”

Hatch said. “I think you guys overplay that all the time and it gets old. And frankly you ought to quit it.”

Anyone could see there were considerably differences between the two men. Nevertheless the bill was passed.

Bill Passed

Steve Scalise said “I think most people know how important it is to cut taxes and get the economy moving again, and this bill does that.”

The bill was passed in the House and then also by Senate.

“We are not convinced that the middle class gets a fair shake when it comes to the deductions that have been eliminated, where the tax brackets are set, and whether and where jobs will be created,” said a joint statement.

Reps. Jim Costa, Henry Cuellar, and Daniel Lipinski came together to give this statement.

Mitch McConnell said “for the millions of hard-working Americans who need more money in their pockets and the chance of a better future, help is on the way.”

“When the Senate returns after Thanksgiving, I will bring this must-pass legislation to the floor for further debate and open consideration,” he said.

Hatch said “anyone who says that we’re hiking taxes on low-income families is misstating the facts.”

Now that Republicans have their desired tax bill, it is a wait and see situation. It will take some time to see who really benefits and who doesn’t.
