Investigations into James Comey and the FBI handling of the Hillary Clinton email scandal had reached a high point.
It was now believed that enough evidence was found to verify that firing Comey was the right thing to do.
Furthermore it was said that others in the DOJ could also find themselves facing the same fate.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions made these startling remarks recently as President Trump pushed for investigations into the FBI.
It was also reported that the FBI report would work against Comey.
Comey And The Report
Trump had long accused Comey of doing a very bad job, especially when it came to dealing with the Hillary Clinton’s scandal.
It was said that the report could be about 500 pages long and could criticize many decisions made by the former FBI Director.
There was talk about leakage to journalists and outsiders, which was also a cause for major concern.
“Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information,” Comey said.
Based on comments by Sessions the report would significantly change the scope of the DOJ and point to Comey as being unlawful.
Sessions Say
Speaking about the situation surrounding Comey’s firing, Sessions believed the President acted in a correct manner.
“It was the right thing to do. The facts were pretty clear on it. He made a big mistake and he testified only a few weeks before that termination that he would do it again [announce reopening the Clinton probe] if he had the opportunity. So we felt like there was a serious breach of discipline within the department if we allowed him to continue,” he said.
Comey had once said he made a big mistake, that would probably be seen in the report which would be released.
I think it will be a lengthy report and a careful report,” he told “Rising” co-host Buck Sexton. “I think it will help us better fix any problems that we have and reassure the American people that some of the concerns that have been raised are not true.”
“If anyone else shows up in this report to have done something that requires termination we will do so,” he added.
This report was expected by many to cause a big shift in the Justice Department and give Trump a win he looked forward to.
