Jason Maldoray is an avid political enthusiast who brings a sharp, fact-first approach to everything he covers. He believes strongly in integrity and taking responsibility for the accuracy of his reporting, and he's not afraid to bring a unique, independent perspective to stories that other outlets cover in more predictable ways. Jason focuses on cutting through spin to get at what's actually happening in government and politics, whether he's covering a contentious court case, an escalating conflict overseas, or a policy fight that most headlines oversimplify. He'd rather spend an extra hour confirming a detail than publish something that sounds good but doesn't hold up. When he's not writing, Jason is usually shooting hoops at the court near his apartment or working his way through a backlog of strategy video games that reward the same kind of patient, detail-oriented thinking he brings to his reporting. He's become something of a home barista over the past few years, experimenting with different beans and brew methods on weekend mornings. Jason is also the guy who never turns down a trivia night, especially when the categories lean toward history or current events, and he keeps a running tally of how his team stacks up against the regulars. Friends have learned to double-check anything he tells them, if only because he usually turns out to be right.
